![]() ![]() It is still a great game, only brought down by comparisons to its predecessor. It is extremely well made, but the Monster Hunter mechanics and much smaller world isn't as engaging as the amazing interconnected levels of SS1. ![]() OP is CORRECT however in saying that SS2 is not nearly as good as SS1, but this is due to some bold design choices rather than because it is badly made. Video of perfect block to riposte here: And this was done with a very non-blocking focused dagger. This is particularly notable in mage fights, although it is not possible vs regular bosses as far a I know. SS2 also has an Eden Ring poise break mechanic where you can deal enough stagger damage within a short period of time in order to stun the opponent for another critical hit. SS2's combat is faster, smoother and does indeed have perfect blocks which stagger the opponent and allows you a critical hit. It is MUCH easier to use than in SS1 and allows you to integrate ranged combat into any build. It has an entirely seperate slot on every build for a ranged weapon, which can be a bow, crossbow, wand, throwing axe or throwing weapon. SS2 does not have an offhand pistol or crossbow. ![]() You could indeed use a shield on every weapon, but no dual wielding at all, not even a twin dagger item like SS2 has. SS1 did not have a dual wield system, if that is what he meant.
